Al Rackoski on Wall of Missing

alrackoskionwallofmissing.jpg

Al was my dad's best friend. He was known to be killed by his comrades of Company C, 337th Infantry because is fox hole took a direct hit from a mortar. I have a letter from his platoon leader (Lt. William Standish) who describes how they searched for his remains, but could not find any trace. My dad always shared a fox hole with Al, but was away picking up rations for the platoon when the mortar hit.
